Overview
My mum is called Myra… not a popular name since the 60s… but my whisky loving dad thought that my whisky loving mum would like this as a whimsical whisky present, so that’s how it came into my possession for review.
“Swedish Whisky” isn’t a phrase that trips off many people’s tongues, and until this distillery was founded in 1998 I suspect the two words were oxymoronic to each other.
Matured in virgin Swedish oak casks many of which were as small as 100 litres, to help speed up the maturation process. This new distillery seems to be on the road to great things… but is it driving (the Volvo) too fast?
| Colour | Nose | Palate | Finish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sauternes | Lots of new oak, fruit, slightly “burnt” | A bit weak at first then harsh. Sharp fruit. | Green fruits, lemony, still too young and harsh, oaky vanilla. |
Conclusion
Mama Mia!… this is a bit too young for me, but that’s me. They seem to have rushed its maturation and it’s a bit too harsh, like having kisses of fire. I felt like my tongue was under attack from a tiger. No honey, honey taste
I can’t be head over heels about this but When all is said and done, I’ll probably watch out for future releases.
Yeah, I did just do a conclusion, where I shoe-horn 8 Abba song titles in as I could… Bite me!
